WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Fresh off of leading his Villa Mitre team to the semifinals of the La Liga Argentina Championship, Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) '15 signed a contract to join Obras Basket (Buenos Aires), joining the team for its National League playoff run.
In 46 games with Villa Mitre, Anderson averaged 17.9 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game with the team falling to Estudiantes de Olavarria in the quarterfinal round. Prior to joining Villa Mitre, Anderson completed his second season of international play with Dudelange in Luxemborg where he was named Defensive Player of the Year and All-Luxembourg Second Team. In his first season with Dudelange he averaged 17.1 points per game, shooting at a 51.3 percent clip (117-of-228). He also pulled down a team-bet 12.6 rebounds per contest and led the team with 2.2 blocks per outing. He began his professional career in Germany with Gladiators Trier.
The Newark, N.J. native closed out his collegiate career in 2015 earning Daktronics All-America Third Team honors and Daktronics All-East Region First team accolades. In addition, Anderson was a three-time Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and twice earned All-NE10 First Team distinction, the only player in program history to earn first-team honors.
As a senior, Anderson averaged an NCAA Division II best 13.1 rebounds per game and recorded the first triple-double in Chargers men's basketball history with 26 points, 28 rebounds and 10 assists against Saint Anselm. During his career at New Haven, he helped lead the Chargers to a pair of NCAA Tournament berths. Overall, the forward/center closed out his career as the program all-time leader in blocks with 238 total, while he is second all-time in rebounding (1,271 career rebounds) and 12th in scoring (1,551 career points).
