MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second straight season, the New Haven women's tennis team has placed a member on the All-Conference Second Team with freshman
Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) adding that accolade to NE10 All-Rookie Team honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to the second straight season with a member on the All-Conference team, Banks All-Rookie selection is also the third straight season the Blue and Gold have had a member named to the all-freshman squad.
For the season, Banks has collected an 11-2 record in singles play with her All-Conference honor coming at fourth singles where she posted a 7-1 overall record. Her mark of 5-1 in Northeast-10 conference play was second among all fourth singles players behind only Adelphi's Nicole Stay (7-1). In addition to her 7-1 record at fourth singles, Banks also finished 3-1 at third singles and 1-0 at second singles.
Banks also finished the regular season with a 9-4 doubles record with the majority of her action coming at second doubles where she finished with a 6-2 record combined with juniors
Stephanie Gonzalez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) and
Lilia Rodriguez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista).
Overall, Banks is the fourth player under the direction of third-year head coach
Hannah Still to earn a conference honor, joining teammates Gonzalez and
Nicole Mika (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs) and 2019 team member Laura Fermosel.
Banks and the Chargers closed out their fall campaign on Wednesday afternoon falling 4-0 to Stonehill in the quarterfinals of the NE10 Championship. The appearance for New Haven in the conference tournament marks the second straight year the Chargers have qualified and the third since joining the league in 2008-09.
