West Haven, Conn.- The University of New Haven Women's soccer team captured their first win of the season against Bloomfield College on Wednesday with their offensive outburst of five goals the most since November 2013 against Merrimack. The Chargers will now turn their attention to Stonehill College as they open Northeast-10 play.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's matchup will be the 20thtime New Haven and Stonehill have played each other. Last season the Skyhawks took the win from the Chargers in a close game 2-3. The all-time record between the two teams is 7-10-3, in favor of Stonehill.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS(1-1-1, 0-0 NE10)
The Chargers offense dominated in the previous game. Leading the Blue and Gold was Junior Samantha Roth (Hicksville, N.Y./St. Anthony's), who finished the game with five points, on two goals and an assist.New Haven's offense took 25 total shots, finding the back of the net five times. Senior Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) collected four points on the afternoon scoring two of the five goals.
Sorcha Ni Bhraonain (Galway, Ireland/Colaiste Cholmcille) also contributed to the win on Wednesday, with an assist off of a corner kick, allowing Gabriela Chavez (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee Comprehensive) to record her first career goal as a Charger. Goalkeeper Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) remains strong in the net with 13 saves and collected her first win in net against Bloomfield.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS(2-1, 0-0, NE10)
Stonehill women's soccer continues its sixth season under the leadership of Head Coach Alex Wilson. Skyhawks Senior Nicole Geraghty is tied with teammate Kayla Henry with four points which leads the team. Geraghty has taken four shots, and two have been goals. Henry leads the team in assists with two while adding a goal. Stonehill has scored a total of seven goals in their first three games of the season, taking 49 shots.
Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Brown currently has a .700 save percentage. She has faced 10 shots on goal, saving seven.

New Haven will continue a series of seven-straight NE10 matches on Wednesday September 18th when they travel to Bentley. Kickoff against the Falcons is slated for 3:30 p.m.
