WEST HAVEN, Conn. – For the second time in as many days, the New Haven field hockey team fell by a score of 3-0 to Franklin Pierce on Sunday afternoon.

Taylor Geaglone (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) and Alexis Rider (Delran, N.J./Delran) had three shots apiece for New Haven, while junior Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made eight stops in goal.

The Chargers outshot the Ravens 3-1 in the first quarter, and each team totaled four shots in the first half, but neither squad was able to find the back of the net.

Shaker kept the game scoreless with a sliding stop on a breakaway with just under 10 minutes left in the third quarter. FPU broke the stalemate in the 39th minute when Julianne Sacco scored on a shot from out near the top of the circle. Meghan Winn padded the lead by tipping home a shot in the 46th minute for the 2-0 lead.

Reilly Bialko (Shickshinny, Pa./Northwest Area) blocked a shot near the post to keep it a two-goal deficit, but the Ravens answered moments later off a penalty corner as Winn tallied her second goal of the game with just under six minutes remaining, deflecting a shot into the bottom right corner to build a 3-0 lead.

The Chargers will conclude their three-game homestand in their next matchup on Wednesday when they host Molloy at DellaCamera Stadium for a NE10 matchup at 7 p.m.
