WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven field hockey team will host Molloy this Wednesday evening for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup starting at 7 p.m. It will be the first time the Chargers will face Molloy since the Lions became an associate member of the NE10 for field hockey this season.

INSIDE THE SERIES
New Haven is 0-2 all-time against Molloy after dropping two to the Lions last season.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (1-4, 1-1 NE10)
After dropping a pair of 2-0 decisions to open the season, the Chargers picked up their first win in their NE10 opener at Mercy, 2-1 on Sept. 18. The Chargers are coming off a pair of 3-0 defeats at the hands of Franklin Pierce over the weekend.

Freshman Zharria John (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) and sophomore Julia Battino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) each tallied their first career goals in the win at Mercy. Sophomore Taylor Geaglone (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) assisted on both tallies, and ranks fifth in the conference with 16 shots. Junior goaltender Natalie Shaker (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) made 18 saves in the two games over the weekend to move into second in the conference with 42 saves.

New Haven returns 15 players, including 12 sophomores to this year's squad that saw significant time as freshmen last season. The Chargers return three upperclassmen in junior forward Nina Bazan (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) and Shaker, plus senior defender Ashley Higgins (North Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy). New Haven also welcomes back sophomore Alexis Rider (Delran, N.J./Delran), who was an NE10 All-Rookie selection in 2018, and Geaglone who was named Third Team All-NE10, in addition to the All-Rookie Team.
The Chargers were selected to finish 10th in this year's NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. They picked up their first two wins in program history last season with wins over Mercy and Southern Connecticut State.

SCOUTING THE LIONS (1-2, 1-0 NE10)
Molloy picked up its first win of the season on Saturday at Saint Michael's with a 2-0 win. They previously dropped a 6-1 decision against No. 3 East Stroudsburg and a 3-1 final to American Int'l.

Erin Tudryn and Jessica Kleber have combined for the team's four goals with two apiece, while three others players have tallied one assist each. In goal, Ava Quick and Ally Saigh have split time, each totaling 90 minutes of action and combining for a 3.00 GAA and .757 save percentage.

ON DECK
New Haven will hit the road for a pair of NE10 contests at American International on Saturday afternoon, and at Adelphi next Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
