NOTES
  • The Chargers' 10-1 record is the second-best start through the first 11 games of any season in program history, surpassed only by the 13-0 start to the 1987-88 season.
  • New Haven extends its home court winning streak to 10 games, the most consecutive wins at home since they won 12 straight at Charger Gymnasium during the 2014-15 season.
  • The Chargers' defense limited opponents to under 50 points for the sixth time in 11 games this season.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH: DEBBIE BUFF
  • "It was a really good team effort coming off the long break with everyone contributing on both sides of the ball."
  • "I thought Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) did a really good job on their point guard, limiting her to only four points. Pergola played extremely well, rebounding and hitting some big shots when they made a little run."
FIRST QUARTER
  • Goldey-Beacom shot 7-for-17 and held the Chargers to 4-for-14 to take a 16-11 lead after one quarter. The Lightning closed the period on an 11-4 run.
SECOND QUARTER
  • The Chargers jumped all over GBC starting in the second quarter, scoring the first 13 points of the frame as part of an extended 14-2 run to build a 23-16 lead by the 4:36 mark.
  • White hit a three-pointer from the top of the key and Wormack followed with a jumper off a Woramck steal to tie the score 16-16.
  • Deshaies added a pair of layups and Wormack hit another jumper to cap the run, forcing a Goldey-Beacom timeout at the 4:36 mark.
  • New Haven shot 9-for-13 (69.2 percent) in the second quarter and closed the half by connecting on seven of their final eight field goal attempts to hold a 32-22 lead at the break.
THIRD QUARTER
  • The Chargers scored the first nine points of the second half, which was capped by a shot-clock-beating layup from Deshaies off an Ocasio assist to make it 41-22 by the 6:08 mark.
  • After GBC ended the 13-0 Charger run, Pergola got the lead to 20 for the first time with a three-pointer at 5:14.
  • Pergola's third triple of the quarter got the lead back to 22 with just under one minute remaining, as New Haven shot 64.3 percent (9-for-14) in the quarter to carry a 53-35 lead into the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Pergola (7) and Deshaies (4) combined to score 11 of New Haven's 14 points in the fourth quarter, with the other three coming on the first career basket for freshman Brianna Diaz (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman), who knocked down a three-pointer with 19 seconds left to bring lead to a game-high 24 points for the 67-43 final.
New Haven will return to Northeast-10 Conference play with a big test at nationally ranked No. 15 Adelphi on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
