SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (5-3-1, 2-3-1 NE10)
Last time the Chargers took the pitch, the squad suffered a 1-0 loss to crosstown rival Southern Connecticut.
Despite the loss, the Chargers outshot the Owls, 17-9 (6-6 on goal), nine of which came in the second half.
Pau Santanach (Barcelona, Spain/Collegi CreaNova)Â led the team with 4 shots, bringing his season total to 46 on the year. Despite not scoring, Santanach still remains tied for first in the NE10 in goals scored (8).
Tano Desseno (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Patrick College)Â also is still tied for first in the conference but in assists (6). Alexander Gunnarsson (Kopavogur, Iceland/Verzlenarskoli Islands)Â is still tied for second with five.
Sophomore Ryan Lamb (Prospect, Conn./Woodland Regional) saw his first action in-between the post on Wednesday, splitting time with Themis Kastoris (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasiet), who racked up three saves. Kastoris's season total is now at 33, which ranks sicth among goalkeepers in the conference.
The Chargers fell to seventh in the NE10 standings with seven points in conference play. New Haven is now tied for second most goals scored as a team (23) in the NE10, with Franklin Pierce and Adelphi.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS (5-5, 2-4 NE10)
Coming off a 4-10-2 record in the 2019 season, the Purple Knights have already improved, entering with a 5-5 record to date. After being ranked last in the NE10 Presason Coaches's Poll, the Purple Knights look to continue defying the odds.
In their last two games, the Purple Knights are 0-2, having been outscored 8-2 by Adelphi and #18 AIC. They will take on the Bentley Falcons on Saturday, Oct. 9 before hosting the Chargers on Oct. 16.
Saint Michael's holds a 3-2 record at home this year so far after coming of a 3-4-2 homestand in 2019.
Saint Michael's entered the season with a diverse roster with nine freshman, seven sophomores, six juniors, and 12 seniors.
Wade Sean entered his 12th season as the head coach of the Saint Michael's men's soccer program, his 22nd season overall. Lang holds a record of 51-79-11 (29-70-10) record as the leader of the Purple Knights.
