THE LEAD
A second-straight ranked opponent looms for the New Haven field hockey team as they travel to Easton, Mass. on Wednesday evening for a date with the No. 8 Stonehill Skyhawks at W.B. Mason Field. The match-up with the Skyhawks is the first of two against top-10 teams that New Haven will play this week. All of the action in the NE10 battle can be seen live on NE10 NOW using the link to the right with the games scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.

SERIES HISTORY VS STONEHILL
New Haven and Stonehill meet for the fourth time in the history of the program with the Skyhawks holding a perfect 3-0 edge in the all-time series. Two of the three meetings have taken place on Stonehill's turf, including the most recent match-up in 2019 which the Skyhawks took a 4-1 victory in.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
New Haven looks to rebound following a road loss at Adelphi last weekend when they travel to the Bay State to face their eighth top-10 team of the season in Stonehill. For the season, 11 different players have found the back of the cage, led by Sophie Schreck (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) who has scored five times and also assisted on a pair of goals for 12 points total. Following Schreck are a trio of players who have scored four goals; seniors Reilly Bialko (Shickshinny, Pa./Northwest Area) and Alexis Rider (Delran, N.J./Delran) and freshman Abby Nixon (Wrentham, Mass./King Phillip Regional). Following that trio is senior Taylor Geaglone (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) with seven points on two goals and three assists. Bialko also leads the team with four assists. A graduate keeper, Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn./Branford) racked up a season-high 17 saves this past weekend at Adelphi, giving her 79 total for the season while she has started and played every minute between the pipes this season.

SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
Stonehill enters Wednesday evenings game one game behind the Chargers in the loss column at 8-2 in the NE10 and 10-4 overall, however they have dropped their last two straight games, both by identical 2-1 scores to Assumption and Bentley. Much of the Skyhawks success came at the end of September when they rattled off seven straight wins, including five in conference play. For the season, Stonehill is led by sophomore forward Raegan Hickey who has scored eight goals and dished out eight assists for 24 points. Four other players have all scored three or more goals with sophomore Claudia Crowe and Emma Mawn following Hickey with five and four scores, respectively. In goal, senior Abigail Campbell has played all but 30 minutes in the cage, racking up 77 saves and allowing just 15 goals across 14 games.

LOOKING FORWARD
With four games remaining in the regular season, the focus begins to turn to the looming Northeas-10 Championship, in which the top-eight teams based on win-loss percentage will advance and fight for the conference crown. With their current 8-2 record, the Chargers stand third overall, one game behind Saint Anselm in the win column, one game ahead of Bentley in the win column and one game ahead of Stonehill in the loss column.

INTEGLIA GOES NATIONAL
After recording her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season, graduate goalkeeper Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn./Branford) earned some national recognition this week as she was named an honorable mention National Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The accolade came just one day after she was tabbed the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week by the league office. Across the two games last week, Integlia racked up 12 saves, including six in the opening game against crosstown rival Southern Connecticut and four more in the home win over Southern New Hampshire. Overall, the back-to-back wins this week helps improve the Chargers to 7-1 in the Northeast-10 with six games remaining before the postseason. Click Here for the full NE10 weekly report.

CHARGERS NINTH IN PRESEASON POLL
Entering their fourth season as a varsity program, the New Haven field hockey team has been picked to finish 9th in the 2021 Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Chargers return to the field for the first time since the 2019 campaign when they finished with five victories, all of which came in NE10 action. New Haven finished the preseason voting with 87 points, the most they have earned in the preseason poll, keeping them inside of the top-10 for the first time. Saint Anselm earned the top billing, scoring 11 of the 15 possible first place points for a total of 190 points. Assumption and Adelphi split the remaining first place tallies with Assumption earning 171 points and one first place vote to finish second and Adelphi earning 163 points including three first place votes to finish third overall. Rounding out the top-five was a pair of teams tied for fourth place with 146 points, Stonehill and Southern New Hampshire.

UP NEXT
The Chargers will close out a two-game road trip with a midweek visit to Stoenhill on Wednesday, October 20. The NE10 battle is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start at W.B. Mason Stadium with all of the action available live on NE10 NOW.
