THE LEAD
After a defeat by inner-city rival Southern Connecticut this past Wednesday, the University of New Haven women's soccer program will hit the road in hopes of finishing their season on a positive note.
SERIES HISTORY VS AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE
The history between AIC and New Haven sparked 25 years ago. In a total of 18 executions within those years, New Haven's losses outnumber their victories 13-4. Four years ago was the only occasion when the two teams were put at a standstill after Kelly Quigley's goal in the mid-second half was canceled out by a Yellow Jacket goal just five minutes after. In the past decade, the Blue and Gold have defeated AIC just once - a 2-1 victory in 2011.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-9-1, 1-9 NE10)
Since starting conference play in the earlier days of September, the Chargers have seen one victory. Sprinkled within peak conference play was one, lone non-conference matchup against Holy Family, in which New Haven settled for a double overtime 1-1 lock when Meghan Dellea (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) put one on the board. Dellea leads the team in scoring with three goals and sitting right next to her with three is forward, Dakota Cimetta (Coral Springs, Fla./J.P. Taravella). Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) has been in the goal every second of game execution this season, and has accumulated 103 saves in 14 games. Her highest in a single game was 14 when taking on Franklin Pierce earlier in the month.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS (5-6-1, 3-6 NE10)
The Yellow Jackets head into Saturday's game coming off a loss to Franklin Pierce at home. Sydney mercies cut the team's deficit to three in the 88th minute after trailing 4-0. AIC holds a split-record when at Ronald J. Abdow Field and have lost their past two on home-territory. The Yellow Jackets are lead by Kevon Isa who has been with the program since 2005. He had a nine-year stint as assistant coach before moving to the head position in 2014.
