THE LEAD
The University of New Haven women's soccer program cut their three-game losing streak in their 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm on the road. The team fell at pace this past Wednesday but come into play Tuesday looking to get back on track.Â
SERIES HISTORY VS ADELPHI
The Chargers hold a 6-14 record when playing the Panthers, accompanied with four standstills. Since 2015, have experienced five consecutive losses and are 4-5-2 when playing at home. Their past three meetups with Adelphi have been shutouts. The relationship between these two dates back to 1998 when new Haven triumphed over the Panthers at home 2-1 in extra playing time.Â
Â
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-5, 1-5 NE10)Â
Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) is proving herself to be an offensive asset to the team in her first year as a Charger. In Wednesday's events she had the team-high of three shots, as well as Meghan Dellea (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill). In Fleming's eight game-appearances she tallied ten shots, two goals, and three assists. Shots have been a struggle this season for the team but at Pace there was only a differential of three shots.Â
Â
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS (3-3-1, 3-3-0 NE10)Â
Adelphi's opening game at Wilmington University early in September was postponed. After their 1-1 lock against Mercy College, the Panthers suffered three losses in between then and now. All three of their deficits have been shutouts by their opponent, including a 1-0 fall at No.17 Southern New Hampshire and a 1-0 loss in overtime against Saint Anselm. They are coming off back-to-back wins at home, which includes a 5-2 victory over Le Moyne, their most goals scored in a single game since 2017 when they scored six against Merrimack. Their most recent victory came from a single shot in the 57th minute by sophomore Kayla Mushorn, her first of her career at Adelphi. In this matchup, Adelphi was outshot by AIC, 11-7.Â
