TODAY'S MATCHUP
Welcome Back Chargers!! It's Homecoming Weekend and the Chargers are back in town for their fourth home game of the season on the Blue and Gold Turf of DellaCamera Stadium. New Haven welcomes Saint Anselm to West Haven looking to avenge a road loss last time they met in 2019.

SCOUTING THE NEW HAVEN CHARGERS
First the first time this season, the Chargers went into halftime tied with their opponent but the Chargers didn't let that matter as the defense went on to hold Pace scoreless in the final 30 minutes to remain unbeaten against the Setters in the all-time series. New Haven's run game led the way last week as they accumulated 192 total rushing yards and all four of the Blue and Gold TD's came on the ground. For the season, New Haven's running game is led by Shamar Logan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Erasmus Hall High School) who has 208 rushing yards to his credit. Zach Mauro (Woodbury, Conn./Nonnewaug) (127 rushing yards) and Jake Conlan (West Haven, Conn./Trinity-Pawling) (111) led the way last week at Pace. The week prior against Southern Connecticut, WB Connor Degenhardt (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) showed off his arm, airing out TD passes of 70 and 93 yards, part of four passing TD's and a total of 355 yards. For the season, the transfer QB has 959 yards, completing 56% of his passes. His main target for the year has been transfer Dev Holmes (Troy, N.Y./Troy) who has 22 catches for 430 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Ryan Hodgins (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) leads the Chargers with 34 tackles, while Khyon Fitzpatrick (Union, N.J./Paramus Catholic) vaulted his way into the top-three with 13 tackles against the Setters last week. New Haven's defense has also excelled in breaking through the O-Line racking up 39 tackles for loss and 14 sacks with the latter of those racking up 104 total loss yards.

SCOUTING THE SAINT ANSELM HAWKS
The Hawks have yet to pick up a victory on the road with their lone victory on the year coming at home in a 42-7 rout of Franklin Pierce. Despite their -13 record, Saint Anselm is a major threat with their passing game which averages 352.8 yards per game, meanwhile the Hawks running game averages just 44 yards per game. Again, despite the Hawks record, they are averaging 29.3 points per game, scoring 16 touchdowns, 10 in the air, four on the ground, one interception return and one punt return. The arm behind the Hawks impressive passing game is sophomore Drew Willoughby who has connected on 134 of his 224 pass attempts while also throwing seven picks. All combined, he has racked up 1,410 yards, completing over 50 of his passes to a pair of receivers; Anthony Brown and Vincent Wagner.

AIRING IT OUT
The 4,168 fans at DellaCamera Stadium on Family Weekend finally had a chance to see the full potential of Connor Degenhardt's (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) arm as he threw for 355 total yards, completing 14-of-21 passes, including four that ended in the end zone. Among those 14 passes were a pair of long range missiles, the first to Javon Turner (Newark, N.J./Paramus Catholic) for 70 yards and the second to Dev Holmes (Troy, N.Y./Troy) for 93 yards. The latter of those two passes was the longest play from scrimmage for the Chargers since October of 2000.

ONE DEGREE ISN'T ENOUGH
With a master's program in sport management, an MBA program and a renowned school of criminal justice it is no wonder so many students call New Haven home when it comes to postgraduate degrees. This season is no different as the Chargers boast 27 grad students on the roster, which according to a new release from the National Football Foundation is the most in Division II. A total of 296 schools responded to a request for information regarding graduate students on current rosters. Two-hundred seventy-nine of those schools listed at least one graduate student and all combined a total of 3,284 collegiate football players will take the field despite having already earned an undergraduate degree.

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
If you haven't visited North Campus recently you haven't seen the construction taking place adjacent to Charger Gymnasium. The site is the future home of the Peterson Performance Center, a state of the art facility that will house strength and condition, sports medicine, a new football locker room and meetings space with the ability to be tailored for the many different needs of all 18 varsity Charger athletic teams. The entire facility will measure 7,000 square feet and house 20 Olympic style weightlifting racks and a 60-yard turf agility and conditioning area. To learn more visit ChargerAthleticsFund.com.

NEXT ON TAP
The Chargers will spend the next two weekends away from the friendly confines of DellaCamera Stadium as they continue their eight-game Northeast-10 Conference schedule. First up on the docket for New Haven will be a visit to the birthplace of basketball, Springfield, Mass. to take on the American International Yellow Jackets. Kickoff in AIC's homecoming game at Abdow Field is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with all of the action available live on NE10 NOW.
