WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven women's soccer team finished their 2021 season Wednesday night, after missing the 2020 season due to the CoVID-19 pandemic. Overall, the Chargers went 4-12-1. Five seniors were honored in the pre-game ceremony for their participation and completion of the program: Emily Gray (Stirling, Scotland/Wallace), Cassidy Callaway (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart), Emily Mendel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue), Victoria Perez (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Antonio de Padua), and Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin).
How it Happened
No. 8 Saint Rose visited Kathy Zolad Stadium in a 7-0 shutout with the defeat in the hands of the Blue and Gold.
The Golden Knights made their way on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute. From then on, they tallied three more before heading into the half.
At the halfway mark, Davis faced eight shots and made three saves. With a total of six saves at the end of regulation, Davis moved herself from fourth to third place in program history for career saves. She now holds, and finishes her career, with 356 saves.
Saint Rose limited New Haven's shots to four, with two being on-target. Midfielder, Charlie Griffiths (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and forward, Alyssa McMahon (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) were the two who committed these on-goal attempts.
After the half, the Chargers were unable to tame Saint Rose's offense who added three goals on nine shots in the final 45 minutes of regulation.
