THE LEAD
In part two of their two-game home pursuit, New Haven hosts their ranked conference rival Saturday evening under the lights at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
SERIES HISTORY VS SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
Saturday marks the 23rd matchup between these two NE10 teams, dating all the way back to 1994. The Chargers haven't walked away with a victory against SNHU since 2013 when they shut out the Penmen 2-0 on the road. Their most recent deficit occurred in September of 2019 when the Chargers fell 5-2. In their past four match-ups, the Penmen outscored New Haven 13-2.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (3-2, 0-2, NE10)
After starting their season off 3-0, the Chargers fell into a two-game cold snap with losses at Stonehill and against Bentley. As New Haven continues conference play, their efforts on the offensive end will have to be heightened if they are looking to add more wins to their resume. In their two losses, the Blue and Gold's opponents were in possession more, outshooting the Chargers 39-10.
SCOUTING THE PENMEN (4-0, 2-0, NE10)
A late goal in the 77th minute of SNHU's game at St. Michael's allowed them to hold onto an undefeated record up to this point in the season. Junior Jordan Butters made the shot that carried her team to victory Wednesday evening. Coming to Connecticut ranked #19, the Penmen prove themselves to be a very determined and aggressive team. In just four contests, they have managed to outscore and outshoot their enemies 8-1 and 61-24, respectively. The Chargers will have to stay on top of forwards Allison Beaumont and Julia Keller, who have showed the most aggression towards the goal shooting a combined 23 shots in only four games.
