Field Hockey Drops 1-0 Decision to No. 10 Bloomsburg

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven field hockey team forced No. 10 Bloomsburg to overtime before dropping 1-0 decision to the Huskies.

Despite facing a 22-8 disadvantage in the shot column, the Chargers kept Bloomsburg on its heels all afternoon, putting up some of the best scoring opportunities of the afternoon. Of the Chargers eight total shots, four were marked as on goal with the Huskies keeper Abby Shaffer securing all four of those saves.

New Haven netminder Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn./Branford) recorded eight saves on the afternoon with her defense blocking a plethora of the remaining 13 shots from the Huskies. Bloomsburg also held a 13-5 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

Leading New Haven's offensive efforts on the afternoon was senior Sophia Shreck who registered three of the eight total shots, while senior Julia Battino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) finished with a pair. Each of the two finished with one shot on goal, with all four of the Chargers shots on goal coming from different players.

New Haven returns to action on Tuesday night when they welcome the Molloy Lions to the Blue and Gold turf of Ralph F. DellaCamera. The Northeast-10 Conference match-up is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start with all of the action available on the Charger Sports Network on NE10 NOW.
