Second Half Rally Propels Chargers to Road win at Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior point guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) finished with a season-high 18 points as the New Haven women's basketball team picked up its first road win in NE10 play on Saturday afternoon 55-44 against Saint Michael's. With the win, the Chargers improve to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Overall, King was one of three players to score in double digits, joined by graduate student Camryn Debose and senior Marigona Bacaliu (Worcester, Mass./Putnam Science Academy) who finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Of all the leading scorers, King had the hottest hand of the day with her 18 points coming on 7-of-12 from the field, including a pair of three pointers and two more points at the free throw line.

"We played stellar defense in the second half and played great down the stretch," said head coach Deborah Buff. "Leighanna [Lister] gave us great minutes off the bench with seven rebounds and Mari [Bacaliu] gave us great energy on defense."

Lister's seven rebounds led the Chargers as they finished with 36 total, one shy of the Purple Knights. Joining her in leading the way was DeBose with six. In addition to her 10 points, Bacaliu led the team with four steals, while her team forced 15 turnovers and turned those Saint Michael's mistakes into 20 points.
