Chargers Ignite 3-0 on the Road After 13-7 Victory Over IUP

New Haven picked up it's third straight win to start the 2022 season. After going 13-9 at Jefferson, 11-10 at Georgian Court, and now 13-7 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, they return to Kathy Zolad Stadium for their home opener on Saturday.

How it Happened
Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) and Annie Acquavita (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) paved the way for the Chargers in the first quarter to solidify a 5-2 lead early on. All five goals came without an assist; Skelly with two and Acquavita with three.

The Chargers held Indiana scoreless throughout the second quarter, and eventually up until the 5:10 mark in the third. Before Katie Hibinger slipped one past Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), New Haven scored four more times, two goals were from freshman attacker, Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire).

After Hibinger's goal New Haven had the lead 9-3, and put three more shots in the net before IUP hit two at 0:16 and 0:12 to close out the third quarter.

Up by seven at the start of the final 15 minutes, Bailey added one more goal to New Haven's lead after 55 seconds were shaved off the clock. The Hawks retaliated with two goals over the span of a minute. The final 12:35 seconds remained scoreless, leaving New Haven with their third straight victory before even playing an official game at home.
