FULL NE10 WEEKLY RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Fresh off of setting a single game school record for the most kickoff return yards in a single game, including returning one 81 yards for a touchdown, graduate student Terrell Ford (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore West) has picked up his first NE10 Player of the Week award as he earns the distinction for special teams. In addition to Ford, graduate quarterback Connor Degehardt also picked up a weekly honor as he was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week.
Ford finished the NE10 opener versus American International with 229 return yards on five attempts, with the 229 yards breaking the previous school record of 171 yards set in 1999 by Ketric Barnes. His touchdown return was also the first time a Charger has run back a kickoff return since the 2015 season when Andre Anderson did so.
In addition to his work on special teams, Ford also finished the day with three receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown, his first for the Blue and Gold as a receiver.
Degenhardt led New Haven's offense with 247 passing yards and five touchdowns, the most in a single game since 2019. Overall, Degenhardt completed 19-of-32 pass attempts, while he also collected 18 net yards on the ground, including a 22-yard run on fourth down conversion.
On the day, the graduate quarterback from Massachusetts connected with four different players for the five touchdown passes, with his tight end Kevin Foelsch (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) converting a pair of his team-best seven receptions for six points. Overall, he relied on eight different receivers for the 19 completions.
Ford, Degenhardt and the Charger football team will return to action on Friday night when they head under the lights for the only time this season at Bentley. Kickoff in the NE10 contest with the Falcons is slated for 6:00 p.m.
