Fourth Quarter Comeback Bid Falls Just Short as Chargers Fall to Southern New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Haven women's basketball team erased a 17-point fourth quarter deficit to come within four points in the final minute of play before dropping a 64-59 decision to Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday evening. With the decision, New Haven falls to 6-7 on the season and 3-6 in the Northeast-10.

A pair of Chargers finished the night in double figures with graduate guard Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) leading the team with 13 points while senior Alyssa Stevenson (Watertown, N.Y./South Jefferson Central) finished her first game with double digits, coming off the bench to chip in 10. The post player finished perfect on the day as she connected on 3-of-3 from the field and went 4-of-4 at the free throw line. DeBose finished 5-of-12 overall, with three of her five buckets from beyond the three point arc. Overall, 10 different players found the scoring column, with at least a pair.

As a team, New Haven finished the game shooting 40.4 percent from the field, connecting on 21-of-52, with DeBose's team-leading three long range buckets half of the six total from the team. In addition to Stevenson, the Chargers as a team finished perfect at the free throw line, connecting on 11-of-11 attempts.

New Haven also finished with a 43-30 advantage on the boards, with senior Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) leading all players in the game with 15 boards, while finishing two points shy of her ninth double double. Following her was Lister and DeBose who each finished with six boards, while nine different players got in on the rebounding efforts.

New Haven will make a quick stop back on its home court with a single home game breaking up road trips.
