GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The New Haven men's basketball team saw its three-game win streak snapped with its first of back-to-back road games going the way of the Adelphi Panthers 74-60 on Tuesday night. With the loss, New Haven falls to 13-5 overall, 10-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Leading the Chargers on the night was senior transfer Ty Perry (Boston, Mass./Brighton) who matched his career-high, set earlier this year against Molloy, with 24 points, shooting 10-of-17 from the field, including four baskets from outside the three-point arc. He also led New Haven with seven rebounds while adding an assist and a steal.
Overall, he was one of two players in double figures, joined by graduate guard Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy), the reigning NE10 Player of the Week, who finished with 14 points. Lane finished the game shooting 4-of-9 from the field with a pair of three-pointers and went 4-of-5 from the free throw line. He also added four rebounds and four assists.
Freshman Justin Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y./St. Francis) finished one point shy of reaching double figures with all three of his field goals coming from outside the arc. The nine points from Hendrick led New Haven off the bench.
As a team, the Chargers finished the game shooting 40.4 percent from the field, connecting on 21-of-52 field goal attempts, with 12 of those 21 buckets coming from outside the three-point arc. The 12 three pointers is the most in a single game by New Haven this season, while it is the fourth game with 10+ in that column.
The Chargers will return to action on Saturday, closing out their two-game road trip with a visit to Rindge, N.H. for a date with the Franklin Pierce Ravens. Tip off from the Franklin Pierce Field House is set for 3:30 p.m. following the women's game.
