Men’s Soccer Puts Up Three, Falls to Bentley 6-3

Waltham, M.A- The University of New Haven men's soccer team fell to the Bentley University Falcons, 6-3. Three different goal scorers for the Chargers would find the back of the net, but the Falcons offensive momentum would outplay New Haven in the Saturday afternoon loss.

Bentley University struck first in the 19th minute as Ben Levine found the back of the net, off passes from Ryan Sledjeski and Santos Antonio. Santos tacked on one of his own, not long after in the 27th minute, off an assist from Sam Winiarski.

The Chargers attempted three first half shots, as opposed to Bentley's nine, with shots coming from Alexander Gunnarson and Nicholas Guardino (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford). Neither player finding a shot on goal for New Haven, while the Chargers trailed 3-0 in corner kicks.

The Falcons would add on another before half time came around, leading the Chargers to a three-goal deficit entering the second half. It would not take long for New Haven to find their offensive momentum, scoring their first goal in the first 50 seconds of the second half. Lucas Kaehr (Armonk, N.Y./Indiana University High School) the goal scorer for New Haven, would find his first of the season off a scramble in the box.

Bentley's Evan Levine would find his third in the 54th minute, followed by another from Lukas Drahos to give Bentley a four-goal lead. Drahos goal would be answered by Oskar Kvarnback (Stockholm, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium) seconds after, when Kvarnback to find the ball up field, taking a low shot from the edge of the box to the keepers right.

Bentley would top of their scoring in the 65th minute, bringing the game to a 6-2 score. Captain Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) would finish off the game with jut over thirty seconds remaining, with his fourth goal of the season. A through-ball from behind Lindstrom would put him in a one on one with the Falcons goalkeeper, putting the ball in the bottom right corner to end off the afternoon.

Despite the loss, the Chargers managed to find a total of 9 shots, with three of those being goals, and one forcing a save from the Falcons goalkeeper. Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) and Oskar Kvarnback (Stockholm, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium) both leading the way with two shots, Kvarnback's two both on goal. New Haven goalkeeper Mattia Palanca (Grottammare, Italy/ITI Montani di Fermo) played all 90 minutes in goal, making a total of 9 saves.

New Haven now falls to 5-6-2 on the season, 2-5-2 in conference play. The Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday, October 24th as they welcome the Mavericks of Mercy College to Kathy Zolad Stadium.
