Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Thomas’ Team High 15 Leads the Way in Home Opener

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Davontrey Thomas (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) led the New Haven men's basketball team (1-4, 0-2 NE10) with 15 points as the Chargers dropped their home opener 61-47 to the visiting Pace Setters.

Thomas was one of two players to put up double figures on the night, joined by Keith Warren (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) who came off the bench to put 10 points on the board. Both Warren and Thomas finished with four field goals apiece, with three of Thomas' buckets coming from outside the arc and Warren drained half of his from long range. Thomas was also a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.

Following Thomas and Warren in the scoring column is sophomore Joshua Hopson (Jersey City, N.J./MacDuffie School) and redshirt-freshman Ethan Simmon (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph Metuchen) who each added eight points. Overall, six players found their way into the scoring column.

As a team, New Haven finished the night shooting 38.3 percent from the field, connecting on 18-of-47 from the field, with seven of the buckets from outside the three point arc. The Chargers also dropped the battle of the boards with a 38-21 margin in favor of Pace. Leading the Chargers in the battle of the boards was Hopson and Warren who each pulled down five boards.

After a quick hiatus for the Thanksgiving Holiday, New Haven will get right back to work when they head back on the road for the first of two-straight away from Charger Gym. First on that list is a non-conference test in Orangeburg, N.Y. against Dominican, with that game slated for Sunday, November 26 at 1:00 p.m.
