THE LEAD
The Chargers will look to close out the first month of the season with a win, snapping a four-game skid and earning their first Northeast-10 Conference victory of the year when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on the Assumption Greyhounds on Wednesday night at Laska Gymnasium.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
Seven games into the season and it continues to be youth leading the way for the Chargers with two of the top three scorers playing their first seasons of collegiate ball. Leading the way is Jah'Likai King (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) who put on a scoring clinic in his collegiate debut when he drained 35 points, going 14-of-21 from the field against Post. For the season King is averaging a team-high 14.2 points per game while dishing out 9 assists and picking off 11 steals. Next up on the rookie train is Ethan Simmon (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph Metuchen) who redshirt last season and it has paid off as he scored in double figures in the first two Chargers games, putting up 17 in the opener and following it up with 11 the next day against Wilmington. Heading into Wednesday, he is averaging 8.3 ppg. Returning leader Davontrey Thomas (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) is certainly not someone to look past as he is averaging 12.8 points in the first six games, including a season-high 18 in the second game against Wilmington and overall has put up double figures in five of the six games this year. Two other highlights have come on the defensive end where King, Jojo Lingisi-Ombongo (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Thomas More) and Tyler Saint-Furcy (Inwood, N.Y./Lawrence Woodmere Academy) have all excelled on the takeaway with 11, nine and seven steals, respectively. As a team, New Haven has protected the rock, averaging just 12.5 turnovers per game, while forcing their opponents into 13.2 and from those opponent giveaways, the Chargers have net 70 points.

SCOUTING ASSUMPTION
Heading into their four Northeast-10 Conference game of the season, the Greyhounds look to stay above .500 in league play entering Wednesday night with a 2-1 NE10 record. For the year, Assumption is averaging 76.0 points per game, while allowing the exact same amount from their opponents. Assumption has utilized the same starting lineup in each of its first five games, with that combination accounting for 80% of the team's total scoring. Four of the five are averaging double figures on the season, led by Kasey Draper who is putting up 19.6 points per game, tied for the fourth most in the conference. Draper also leads the team on the boards with an average of 6.4 rebounds per game and is the biggest outside shooting threat for the Greyhounds with 13 three point field goals. Kani Glover, Daouda Dembele and Kyle Hicks follow Draper in the scoring column with 12.4, 11.0 and 10.0 ppg, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY vs ASSUMPTION

·         New Haven and Assumption meet for the 29th time in the history of the two programs.

·         New Haven holds a 17-11 advantage in the previous 28 games.

·         Both of last season's games were decided by a single point with each team winning on its home court.

·         With the Greyhounds win in the second meeting in Worcester, they broke a 10-game win streak the Chargers were riding in the all-time series.
