WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) third double double of the season led the New Haven women's basketball team (2-5, 0-5 NE10) as the Chargers dropped a 56-49 decision at the hands of the visiting Adelphi Panthers on Tuesday night at the Jeffery P. Hazell Athletic Center.
Deshaies 16 points represented the only Charger in double figures, while all eight players in the game scored at least two points. Additionally, all eight players pulled down at least one rebound as the Chargers and Panthers finished in a deadlock with 39 rebounds apiece, while Deshaies 12 boards was the most for any player in the game.
Overall for the game, New Haven shot 32 percent from the field, connecting on 16-of-50 from the field, which included a pair from outside the three point arc. The Chargers were also 15-of-22 from the free throw line. Individually, Deshaies finished the day shooting 5-of-10 from the field and was 6-of-13 at the line.
Joining Deshaies in the scoring column were a trio of Chargers, Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley), Gabrielle Stickle (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt)and Nayeli Dowding (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) who each finished with seven points. Junior Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) came off the bench and followed Deshaies in the rebound column with seven boards, adding that to six points and three assists.
