WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's tennis team saw its 2022-23 campaign come to a conclusion on Tuesday afternoon but not before scoring the school-record 14th victory of the season with a 7-0 shutout of Dominican. With the victory, the Chargers conclude the season with a 14-8 overall record.
The Blue and Gold would open up the day with a sweep of the double matches with the No. 1 duo of Valentinna Ferrarini (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Karim Carrera taking their match by a 6-1 decision and the pair of Kacie Banks (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) and Alexa Orlando (Frederick, Md./Middletown) earning a 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, two Chargers swept their competition, the first at No. 2 singles where Carreras earned the 6-0, 6-0 decision before Anna Katz (Miami, Fla./Laurel Springs) matched that score at No. 5 singles. Banks and senior Katherine MacPhail (Park City, Utah/Judge Memorial Catholic) earned the victories and third and fourth singles, respectively, with the latter of those two a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Rounding out the match was Ferrarini at No. 1 singles which concluded with the 6-4, 6-2 victory.
