WHAT'S ON TAP
After breaking back into the win column on Wednesday night at Franklin Pierce, the New Haven women's basketball team will look to build on that momentum when they host the Saint Rose Golden Knights at the Jeffery P. Hazell Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
A conference leading, and top-11 in the nation, seven double doubles from graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) and she is one of the key leaders for the Chargers, averaging 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, second most in the NE10. Also on a bit of a hot streak is junior guard Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) who has scored in double figures in seven of the last nine games, including a career-high 22 points against Georgian Court and her first double double (15 points, 10 rebounds) against Franklin Pierce. Her recent success has also moved her up the scoring column, currently third on the team with an average of 9.5 ppg. Rounding out the trio of top scorers is sophomore Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) who has helped fill the void left by the loss of two of the top three scorers from a year ago as she is averaging 11.5 points across the first 14 games and also leads the Chargers with 26 three point field goals. To start the season, fifth-year head coach Debbie Buff turned to the experience of senior Gabrielle Stickle (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) to run the offense and she has not disappointed, dishing out 50 assists and is fifth in the NE10 with 3.6 per game. Included for Stickle is a pair of games with a career-high eight assists versus Goldey-Beacom and Georgian Court. As a team, New Haven is outscoring opponents by an average of 5.4 points per game, scoring 80+ in the first two games of the season, after hitting that scoring mark just once all of last season. All combined, the Chargers are shooting 41.0 percent (317-773) as a team, led by Bianca Pendleton (Accokeek, Md./New Hope Academy) who is shooting 57.5 percent from the field (23-30).

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
The second ranked team in the Northeat-10 with an overall record of 12-2 with an 8-2 mark in league play, Saint Anselm is looking to extend its current win streak to four straight games. Extended, the Golden Knights have won 12 of their last 13 games. Their two losses on the year came at the hands of Pace and Bentley. Despite the 12-2 record, the Golden Knights aren't offensively driven, averaging 59.9 points per game but defensively they stand out from the pack as they allow just 45.1 points on average to their opponents which is the lowest among all NE10 teams. Individually, three players are putting up double figures on the season with Payton Graber leading all scorers with an average of 11.6 ppg. The Golden Knights leading outside shooter, Graber has connected on 25 three pointers among her 52 total field goals while she also leads the team with 35 assists and 26 steals. Joining her atop the scoring column is Syrita Faraj and Maddisyn Mahoney with 11.2 and 10.3 ppg, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY vs SAINT ROSE

·         New Haven and Saint Rose meet for the 27th time in the history of the two programs on Wednesday night

·         The Chargers hold a 16-10 record in the previous 26 games, having won six of the last nine against the Golden Knights

·         Saint Rose's most successful part of the series came in the early years when they rattled off five straight, which included sweeping the home-and-home series in 2010-11 and 2011-12

·         Last season the two squads split the home-and-home series with each team winning on its own home court.

NEXT TIME OUT
The stop at home is brief for the Blue and Gold as they will head right back on the road for a trip to the Empire State to take on the Pace Setters as they begin their second trip through the Northeast-10 Conference schedule. Tip-off against the Golden Knights is set for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, with all of the action available live on the Chargers Sports Network on NE10Now.tv
