Hogan's 21 Leads the way in Regular Season Finale, Chargers to Play SCSU in NE10 First Round

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – With her third 20+ performance of the season, sophomore guard Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) led her New Haven women's basketball team as the Chargers came up short in their final regular season home game 70-59 to the visiting Franklin Pierce Ravens. With the loss, New Haven closes out the regular season 8-18 overall and 4-18 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

With all regular season games wrapped up for the night, the New Haven women's basketball team closes out the year 11th in the Northeast-10 Conference and will travel across town for its first round game in the NE10 Championship to take on the Southern Connecticut Owls. Tip off a Moore Field House is set for 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

Hogan wrapped up the regular season with a game-high 21 point performance, connecting on 8-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-9 from beyond the three point arc. Overall, she was one of three Chargers to finish in double figures, joined by graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) and junior guard Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) who finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Among the pair, Deshaies finished the night shooting 50% from the field, connecting on 6-of-12 overall, while Bassett saw the majority of her scoring come at the free throw line where she was 5-of-6 while her remaining six points came from beyond the three point arc.

The Chargers did close out the night with a 28-27 advantage on the boards, led by Deshaies who pulled down seven boards. Following her was Bassett with five and senior Gabrielle Stickle (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) who finished with four rebounds to go along with four points and four assists. Bassett also led the Chargers with six assists, while junior transfer Sabira Ahayeva (Minsk, Belarus/Minsk #27) added three assists.

For the night, New Haven closed out the game shooting 43.8 percent from the field, connecting on 21-of-48 free throw attempts, including eight of the 21 field goals from outside the three point arc. Additionally, the Blue and Gold finished 9-of-11 at the free throw line.
