GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Back-to-back double doubles for graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) led the New Haven women's basketball team in its road game on Wednesday night at Adelphi University. Deshaies led the Blue and Gold with 18 points and 14 rebounds, completing her 10th double double of the season which leads the team and the Northeast-10 Conference.
Overall, Deshaies was one of two Chargers who finished in double figures followed by graduate transfers Makaela Johnson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) who finished with 10 points while junior Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and sophomore Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) followed with nine and eight points respectively. All combined, all of the Chargers 46 points against the Panthers came from its starting five.
Deshaies 14 rebounds led the Chargers as they took the victory in the rebounding battle with a 36-22 margin. Johnson again followed Deshaies in that column pulling down eight boards, while all 10 players who saw time against the Panthers finished with at least one rebound.
Johnson also led New Haven with six assists while senior point guard Gabrielle Stickle (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) added four and Hogan finished with a trio. Bassett added to her nine points with a team-high two steals.
After spending two straight games on the road, the Chargers will make their first appearance at home in the month of February on Saturday, February 10 when they welcome the Saint Michael's Purple Knights to West Haven.
