WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of New Haven women's tennis team continued its early season dominance on the courts, scoring a second-straight 7-0 shutout, defeating the Molloy Lions at Hempstead Lake State Park.

Highlighting the victory was a pair of singles shutouts from senior Karim Carreras (Asuncion, Paraguay/Colegio Bautista de Villa Morra) in the No. 2 position and sophomore Agustina Ravera (Miramar, Fla./Broward Virtual School) in the No. 6 position. Carreras wrapped up her day earning two points for the Chargers, the first combining with her familiar partner Valentinna Ferrarini (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) for a 6-2 victory in the No. 1 doubles position. She would then go on to sweep Isabella Fortzleza 6-0, 6-0 for her second point of the day.

Ravera's sweep at the No. 6 singles position secured a point for the Chargers with her 6-0, 6-0 decision coming against the Lions Taylor Gunnip.

Ferrarini, Risako Umekuni (Saitama, Japan/Shumei Eiko), Victoria Togores (Canary Islands, Spain/Colegio Hispano Ingles) and Laura Ortner (Schlierbach, Austria/BRG Kirchdorf) all combined with Carreras to earn two points towards the Chargers victories. Ferrarini's second point came in the No. 1 singles position with her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Erin Sanchez.

Umekuni and Togores combined to earn a doubles victory, surrendering just a single game at the No. 2 position against Alice Fartushynska and Fortzleza. Umekuni's singles victory came at the No. 3 position, shutting out Fartushynska in the first set and scoring a 6-1 decision in the second set. Togores continued her early career success with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4singles over Ashley Bonilla.

Ortner saw her doubles victory come in the No. 3 position, partnering with another new face to the program, Leni Bischof (Aigen, Austria/BRG Stainach). Combined, the pair posted a 6-1 decision over Bonilla and Julia Salazar. In singles action, Ortner surrendered a single game in the No. 5 position, earning the point with a 6-1, 6-0 score.
