BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Facing its third top-10 team in as many games, the New Haven field hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision to the No. 5 Bloomsburg Huskies on Wednesday night in their second trip to the Keystone State this season.
Facing a 2-0 deficit at the start of the second quarter, junior Eliza Caven (Caledon, Ontario/Humberview Secondary) put New Haven on the board when she connected with graduate student Paige Garrett (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area) for a pair of firsts for the duo with Caven scoring her first goal of the year and Garrett her first point of the season.
Overall for the game, Bloomsburg held a 22-6 advantage in the shots column with the Huskies placing 13 of their 22 shots on target, forcing the Chargers cage minder of Rae Kline (Brookline, N.H./Hollis Brookline) to make six saves.
Caven's goal came on one of two shots in the game while graduate forward Kat Trammel (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) led New Haven with three of the six total shots while Sophia Ruh (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) added the final shot attempt of the day.
The Chargers will return for the first of three-straight games at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday night under the lights when they host the Franklin Pierce Ravens in the Northeast-10 opener. Action is slated to get underway at 7:00 p.m. with coverage on NE10 Now on Flo Sports.
