Field Hockey Faces First Conference Setback on the Road at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Looking to keep its unblemished Northeast-10 Conference record intact, the New Haven field hockey team traveled to Waltham, Mass. to take on another NE10 undefeated team in the Bentley Falcons, with the home team coming away with a 2-0 victory. With the decision, New Haven falls to 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in the NE10.

The two squads played scoreless into the third quarter before the Falcons converted on a penalty corner early in the 49th minute with Hannah Blomquist scoring her second goal of the season. The Falcons would add another in the 50th minute with Nicole Hartz knocking in a rebound.

For the game, Bentley led the way in the shot column with a 16-3 advantage with one of the three from New Haven marked on goal, that coming off the stick of Eliza Caven (Caledon, Ontario/Humberview Secondary) in the third quarter. In addition to her shot, graduate student Kat Trammel (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) and senior Sophia Ruh (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) also finished with shots.

Defensively, starting goalkeeper Cara Lambert (Sutton, Mass./Sutton Memorial) finished the day with 10 saves facing a barrage of 12 shots that were on target.

New Haven will return to West Haven for a single midweek stop on Tuesday under the lights at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium when they welcome the Assumption Greyhounds to town for a 7:00 p.m. start. All of the action will be available live on NE10 Now on Flo Sports.
