NORTH EASTON, Mass. – New Haven Men's Soccer fell behind early and was unable to mount a comeback in Thursday afternoon's 1-0 loss at Stonehill College.
Alessandro Bizzini (Imola Bologna, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Valeriani) finished with four saves on five shots faced in the match.
The Skyhawks got a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute and held on the entire way. Shane Fonseca's goal was the match-winner for Stonehill.
Guilherme Meira (Alfredo Chaves, Brazil/Clotilde Rato) fired six shots, two on target, throughout his 76 minutes on the pitch. His pair, combined with a shot each from
Tommaso Illario (Valenza, Italy/Istituto Cellini),
Jacopo Suagher (Bergamo, Italy/Liceo Scientifico E. Amaldi), and
Andrew Buchanan (Dunfermline/Nord Østerdal VGS), were all the shots on target the Blue & Gold could muster.
New Haven returns to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Saint Francis University. Opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. from Loretto, Pa.
