New Haven Suffers 35-20 Setback at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A quick trip up the road for New Haven Football resulted in a 35-20 setback for the Blue & Gold. Freshman linebacker Frederick Borkey (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Thomas More) notched one and a half sacks in the loss.

A Liam Quigley (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Govenor Livingston) field goal had the Chargers ahead 3-0 after the opening 15 minutes.

Sacred Heart found the end zone twice in the second quarter. In between Pioneer touchdowns, Jayden Shwed (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) found paydirt as he scored his first touchdown of the season.

New Haven was held scoreless in the third while SHU added another score, making it 21-10 after three.

Another field goal from Quigley and a 20-yard touchdown pass from AJ Duffy (St. Augustine, Fla./Rancho Verde) to Kevonne Wilder (Bronx, N.Y.) was the rest of the offense the Blue & Gold could generate.

Sacred Heart put up another 14 in the final quarter, resulting in the 35-20 final.

New Haven ends its 2025 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 8, at home against Merrimack College. Opening kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
