ERIE, Pa. – New Haven Football took a 48-14 loss on the road on Saturday at the hands of the Mercyhurst Lakers.
AJ Duffy (St. Augustine, Fla./Rancho Verde) passed for one touchdown and ran for another in the losing effort.
Duffy's 16-yard toss to Josh Tracey tied the game at seven with 8:05 left to play in the opening quarter.
The Lakers then scored 41 straight unanswered points before Duffy carried the ball across the goal line from a yard out.
Duffy finished the game 18-35 for 183 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He also led the ground attack with five carriers for 37 yards and a score.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Brodie Williams (West Memphis, Ark./Academies of Jonesboro High School) registered a team-high 11 tackles, while
Lucas Theriaque (Woodstock, Conn./Putnam Science Academy) came away with an interception for the Blue & Gold.
New Haven continues its season-opening road swing with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff from the University at Albany on Saturday, Sept. 13.
