SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New Haven men's soccer team tied Le Moyne 2-2 on Thursday at Ted Grant Field.
Andres Lazo (Montville, N.J./Montville) added his fifth goal of the year and second in as many games putting him 2nd in the NEC this season. The Chargers converted both of their shots on goal while Le Moyne finished with a 16-6 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.
Andres Lazo (Montville, N.J./Montville) brought New Haven level in the 34th minute, converting a penalty kick at 33:40 to make it 1-1 after Le Moyne had gone in front. Earlier, the Chargers absorbed a stretch of Le Moyne pressure that included three corner kicks and a shot between 7:48 and 16:07 before Felix Ludemann scored off a Myles Palmer assist at 16:50.
Shane Antao (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) kept the deficit at one with a save on Palmer one minute later, and New Haven later created a look through
Matheus Guimaraes (), whose shot went left in the 29th minute. After Lazo's equalizer, the Chargers earned back-to-back corner kicks in the final four minutes and went into halftime tied 1-1.
New Haven fell behind 2-1 on a Le Moyne goal in the 48th minute, but
Ali Taleb (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) brought the Chargers level at 69:28 after taking advantage of an errant goalkeeper dribble and finishing into the far corner. Before the equalizer, New Haven pushed for chances with shots from
Vinicius Lemke (Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil/Colégio Marista),
Trevor Pegg (Darien, Conn./Darien) and
Aiden Williams-McCracken (West Stockbridge, Mass./South Kent) between 61:33 and 66:13. After Taleb's goal made it 2-2, the Chargers earned back-to-back corner kicks in the 73rd and 74th minutes while also navigating a physical stretch that included several fouls. Antao preserved the tie late with three saves in the final 14 minutes, and the match finished 2-2.
Taleb scored on his only shot, putting the attempt on goal. Lazo added a goal and converted his lone penalty-kick attempt. Antao played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves.
