Fitzpatrick Drops 32 in University of New Haven's Win over FDU

HACKENSACK, N.J. — New Haven (13-15, 8-7 NEC) secured an 84-77 victory over FDU (11-18, 8-8 NEC) on Saturday night at the Bogota Savings Bank Center. The Chargers' offense was powered by 14 three-pointers, well above their season average of 6.41, playing a crucial role in the win.

The Chargers set the tone early, jumping to a 12-0 lead by the 16:59 mark of the first half, highlighted by Stefano Faloppa's (Portogruaro, Italy/Holy Cross Prep) three-pointer. Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) added a three-pointer and assisted Najimi George (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) for another, extending the lead to 15-0. Fitzpatrick, who tallied a season-high 32 points, has been consistently impressive, hitting at least 11 field goals in two consecutive games. FDU responded with a timeout, with David Jevtic hitting a three-pointer at 16:02 for their first points. Despite FDU's efforts, including contributions from Joey Niesman, New Haven maintained its lead with Andre Pasha's (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) steady scoring, closing the half ahead 55-39.

In the second half, New Haven held its ground, finishing with an 84-77 win. Fitzpatrick continued to dominate, making key baskets, including a layup at 5:11 that widened the Chargers' lead. He also excelled at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6, surpassing his season average of 2.96. Although Niesman attempted a comeback for FDU, New Haven's defense was unyielding, recording at least six steals for the fourth consecutive game. Kheni Briggs (Kennapolis, N.C./The Burlington School) added a decisive three-pointer at 3:57, ensuring the Chargers' lead remained intact as the game concluded.
