EVANSTON, Ill. — The University of New Haven men's soccer team fell to Northwestern University with a final score of 3-1 Thursday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. The Chargers managed to score in the second half, but Northwestern's three goals secured the win.
The match between the Blue & Gold and Northwestern began with both teams taking assertive positions on the field. New Haven's defensive efforts were highlighted by
Shane Antao (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial), who made five critical saves, including stopping a close-range attempt by Peter Riesz in the 14th minute. Despite New Haven's robust defense, Northwestern took the lead at the 16:18 mark with a goal by Andrew Millar, assisted by Bryant Mayer and Marco Silva. The period concluded with New Haven trailing 1-0 as it headed into the break.

Northwestern secured a decisive third goal by Tre Barrett at 84:34, sealing the match with a final score of 3-1.
Shane Antao (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) recorded five saves during his 90 minutes in goal, facing 19 shots.
