WEST HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven women's soccer lost to Bryant 1-0 on Sunday. The Chargers finished with five shots, including two on goal, and made four saves while holding Bryant scoreless in the second half. It was Senior Day for the Chargers.
The Chargers generated the first shot on goal when Mariana Alves forced Shannon Mejia into a save in the third minute, but Bryant went in front at 11:34 on Alisyn Mulholland's goal from Lucia Edelstein.
Jordan Galica (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) answered with a save on Delaney Callahan at 17:07, and
Emma Mitchell (Edinburgh, Scotland/Liberton) later put another shot on frame in the 26th minute before Alves sent an attempt high in the 29th. The Blue & Gold then worked through a physical late stretch, with four fouls called from 32:08 to 38:15, while Galica added another save at 33:52 and Bryant earned corners at 34:16 and 41:51 without scoring again. The first half ended with the Chargers trailing Bryant 1-0.
The Chargers held Bryant scoreless across the second half but could not find an equalizer, and Bryant closed out a 1-0 result. Earlier, the Blue & Gold generated two looks in the opening 10 minutes after halftime, with Helena Ribeiro Macedo shooting high in the 47th minute and Mitchell missing high right in the 55th. Galica kept the Chargers within one with saves on Caitlin Forshay at 53:52 and Samantha Zaslaw at 64:45, while Bryant was whistled offside three times in the half. The Blue & Gold played through three fouls between 57:55 and 72:31 without a card, but Bryant continued to earn set pieces and had a late Tatum Cordon shot hit the top of the frame in the 84th minute before the second half ended scoreless.
Galica played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves, making two in each half. Mitchell recorded two shots and put one on goal. Alves also finished with two shots, including one on goal.
Up next, the Chargers will host Saint Peter's University on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Kathy Zolad Stadium in West Haven, Conn.
