Student-Athlete Host Guidelines
Acting as a student host is an important service to the institution and the department of athletics. Appropriate conduct is required of you by institutional, conference and NCAA standards:
A. You must be enrolled full-time at this institution. If you are a freshman, you must be a qualifier as determined by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
B. If entertainment funds are provided, only you shall be provided money with which to entertain only yourself, the prospect, the prospect's parents (legal guardians) or spouse. Other students may assist with hosting the prospect but shall pay for their own entertainment. No cash may be given to the visiting prospect or anyone else. The entertainment funds may not be used to purchase, or otherwise provide the prospect with gifts of value (e.g. souvenirs or clothing).
C. A maximum of $20 per day may be provided to cover the entertainment expenses of both you and the prospect. An additional $10 per day for each additional prospect entertained by you may be provided. You are responsible for submitting any receipts and /or remaining cash from the funds advanced. This should be done on the first work day following the recruiting dates.
D. You may not use vehicles provided or arranged for by any institution staff member or booster of the athletics interests. You may not transport the prospect or anyone accompanying the prospect more than 30 miles from the campus.
E. You should not allow recruiting conversations to occur off campus between the prospect and a booster of the athletics program. (If an unplanned meeting occurs, only an exchange of greetings is permissible).
F. The prospect shall not be allowed to participate in any athletics activity involving or related to the sport for which the prospect is being recruited (e.g. no pick-up games).
G. I certify that I have read the above instructions and hereby acknowledge the receipt of $ for the purpose of entertaining the above named prospect(s). I also understand that the prospect is to eat in the university cafeteria and that the money given is not to be used for food unless the cafeteria facilities are closed.
H. I understand that the use of alcohol and/or drugs is strictly prohibited and that the prospect is not to be in the presence of such items during their visit.
I. I understand that participation by either me or the prospect in any gambling or associated illegal activities strictly prohibited by the NCAA is not permissible (e.g. no betting or wagering of any kind on any athletics events – professional or collegiate).
