Prior to New Haven, Lemon was an assistant coach for the St. Lawrence University Football team in 2014 and 2015 working with the receiving corps. In 2015, the Saints set school records for nearly all passing categories featuring All-Liberty League selections Mitch Gallagher and Leondre Simmon.

In 2013, he coached the cornerbacks at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC where he mentored two All-Conference players as Tyler Mitchell received First Team All-USA South honors and D.J. Payne was named to the Second Team. He also coached special teams and spent time in the spring coaching the slot receivers.

As a student-athlete, Lemon played four years at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD under Coach Sherman Wood, where he lettered all four years and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in May 2012.  During his last season with the team, Salisbury advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament losing to eventual National Champion, Wisconsin-Whitewater.
