Bryan Blackstone

Brian Blackstone ’02 returned to the University of New Haven as a coach prior to the 2011 season and enters his third year on the sidelines coaching the defensive backs.

The secondary featured two Second Team All-Northeast-10 talents in the fall of 2012 in cornerback Kendrick Butler and safety Bernard Risco as the Chargers boasted the third-ranked total defense in the nation and the top pass defense in the Northeast-10.

Previously an assistant at Branford High School, Blackstone has coached football since 2006. He mentored both the secondary and wide receivers for the varsity squad while also assuming the head coaching role for the freshman team.

As a student-athlete at New Haven, the Abington, Pa. native played under former head coaches Tony Sparano and Darren Rizzi. Blackstone roamed the secondary for the 1997 National Finalist team and the 2001 club that beat nationally-ranked Division I-AA Villanova.
