DaRon Hughey joined the New Haven Men’s Basketball coaching staff prior to the 2023-24 season, his first coaching position on the collegiate level.

Hughey comes to New Haven following a successful career as a student-athlete at Buffalo State University where he also served as a team captain. In two seasons with the Bengals, Hughey appeared in 30 games averaging 10.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Prior to Buffalo State, Hughey also played one season at Hagerstown Community College.

A native of East Hartford, Conn., Hughey attended The Master’s School in Simsbury, Conn. and continues to give back to the local basketball community in his home state, most recently working with Connecticut Elite, an AAU Program which he began working with in March of 2023.
