Alex Esposito enters her second season as the head coach of the University of New Haven women’s tennis team. She is 3-13 as the head coach of the Chargers.
In her first season, Esposito worked with a young squad that featured just three returning players and added five freshmen. Following a slow start to the year, the Blue and Gold picked up their first win of the season with a 9-0 win against Franklin Pierce. The team capped its fall campaign with a thrilling 5-4 victory against Saint Rose on Senior Day. In the spring, the Chargers played their first match on campus in more than a decade with the opening of the UNH Tennis Courts next to Charger Gymnasium. New Haven marked the occasion with a ceremony prior to a 9-0 victory against Molloy.
Esposito earned numerous honors in her playing career both at Vanderbilt University and Baylor University. As a freshman at Vanderbilt, she was named an All-SEC Second Team member and also garnered All-SEC Tournament Team accolades.
In three seasons at Baylor, Esposito was a part of Big 12 regular season championship teams in 2013 and 2014 and the Big 12 tournament title team in 2014. She was named an All-Academic Big 12 performer in 2014 and was a member of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in all three of her seasons with the Bears.
As a coach, Esposito spent three seasons working at the Nike Tennis Camp at the University of Denver and has been an instructor at the Glenmoor Country Club in Englewood, Colo.
