Durval Pereira recently completed his first season an assistant coach with the Chargers in 2019. Pereira comes to New Haven after serving the previous three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Quinnipiac University.
In his role at Quinnipiac, Pereira was tasked with community outreach, camps and clinics, recruitment, running training sessions, tactical analysis and video breakdown. He helped Quinnipiac to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship title in 2016, and helped the Bobcats back to the finals in 2018.
Since 2013, Pereira has served as the Director of Coaching for the Cheshire Soccer Club and is the founder of the Cheshire Soccer Academy. He has served on the U.S. Developmental Academy Staff at Beachside SC since 2016 and also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Hamden High School from 2014-2016.
Following his playing career at Quinnipiac, where he earned all-conference honors and was named the NEC Rookie of the Year in 2008, Pereira went on to play professionally in Portugal for both Mira Mar SC in Liga Regional, and C.D. Operario in the Segunda Liga.
Pereira graduated from Quinnipiac in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in health studies and science. He also earned a master’s degree in high performance soccer from MBP School of Coaches in Barcelona, Spain.
Pereira was an All-American and three-time All-New England and all-state performer at Cheshire (Conn.) High School, from which he graduated in 2008.
