Breanne Gleason enters her second season as an assistant coach for the University of New Haven. Two years after concluding arguably the best four-year career in UNH softball history.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at UNH, Gleason was a member of the Chargers squad from 2007-10, leading the team to three NCAA appearances including the longest postseason run in school history last year. She finished her career as the all-time leader in program history in at-bats, doubles, pitching appearances, strikeouts, wins and innings pitched, and also finished within the top-10 in six other statistical categories. Gleason’s career, which consists of numerous postseason laurels, is highlighted by two Third Team All-America selections and a Northeast-10 Pitcher and Player of the Year award in 2010, becoming only the second player in conference history to receive both honors in a single year.
Gleason became the 20th NCAA Division II pitcher to reach the 1,000th strikeout milestone and the 22nd Division II pitcher to record her 100th win during her senior campaign. In the same year, she recorded a perfect game in a 3-0 win versus Dowling on March 17, 2010. She was a Daktronics All Region selection all four seasons and earned Northeast-10 Conference First-Team honors in 2009 and 2010.
A Connecticut native, Gleason was a member of the Bristol Central High School squad that won the CCC South Conference Championship in 2005 and 2006 and were state runner-ups in 2004 and 2005. She was named All-State twice as a junior and senior and was an All-Conference and All-Academic selection all four seasons.
Gleason graduated from UNH in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Management of Sports Industries. While serving as an assistant coach, she also takes graduate study courses in the M.B.A. program at UNH with a Sports Management concentration.
