Chrissy Yard

Chrissy Yard enters her first season with the Chargers as assistant coach. She will join the Chargers for the 2010 season after a four-year playing career at Rutgers University. Yard will primarily work with UNH pitching staff. 

Prior to the University of New Haven, Yard was a standout pitcher for the Scarlet Knights. She ended her career having put herself in two different spots in the Rutgers record book. Yard is tied for first with three saves in a seaon and second with five career saves. Yard earned Big East All-Academic in 2008 and 2009 and was a NFCA Academic All-American in 2009. Additionally, she earned Big East Player of the Week once during her career. 

Yard has honed her coaching skills at several softball camps through the years. During her four years as a Scarlet Knight, she worked at the Rutger Softball Camp with former Coach Pat Willis. For over eight years, Yard was a counselor and instructor at the Hillsborough High School Softball Summer Camp. She has also spent the past four years volunteering with Hillsborough Softball Saturdays - a program for kids with disabilities.

A Hillsborough, N.J. native, Yard was a two-time All-State Selection and Somerset County Player of the Year. She led her team to three Somerset County Championship title and one Skyland Conference Championship title her senior year. Yard was a four-time All-Group IV, All-Area and All-County selection.
