Rachel Foster enters her fourth season as assistant coach for the University of New Haven softball program in 2013.
In 2010, she assisted with a pitching staff that consisted of arguably the best pitcher in program history, All-American Breanne Gleason. Gleason was also named the NE-10 Pitcher of the Year in 2010, among many other postseason laurels.
Prior to her appointment at UNH, Foster played collegiately at Lynn University. Before suffering a career-ending injury in her junior season, Foster was a two-year starter for Lynn. She was All-SCC Second Team in 2005 after leading the Fighting Knights to the NCAA Div. II National Championship. Additionally, Lynn was conference champions and regional champions. Foster was a member of the United States World Cup team in 2003 and the USA International team in 2006. While at Lynn, Foster also served as assistant coach for the Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, Fla.
A Connecticut native, Foster was a member of the Amity High School softball team. She was the CT Gatorade Player of the Year in 2003 after leading her team to the third consecutive state championship. She was named All-State First team 2002, 2003 and 2004, All-New England in 2003 and 2004 and NFCA All-America in 2003 and 2004.
Foster graduated from Lynn in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in hospitality, sports and recreation management.
