Christine Huber is in her fifth season as a volunteer assistant for the UNH women’s basketball team. She has previously the first assistant at Southern New Hampshire University and Colby College. The definition of a two-sport star, she was inducted into the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame in January, 2008, after starring for the UNH women’s basketball and soccer teams from 1996-2000.
Huber was a four-time all-conference selection and is second all-time in scoring for the women’s soccer program with 63 goals and 144 points - both school records until last season. In her freshman year, Huber burst onto the scene with 20 goals and 45 points en route to one of her two First Team All-NECC awards, and she led the program to a No. 6 ranking in the New England region. Huber still holds single-game records for goals (5) and points (10). Equally adept in basketball, Huber was a three-time all-conference selection and still ranks eighth in career scoring (1,453) and tenth in career rebounding (764). She played in 107 games, averaging 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals (205 total) per game for her career. UNH advanced to the NECC tournament all four years she played, including a title game appearance during Christine’s senior campaign.
In addition to her role with the UNH women’s basketball team, Huber was also the tight end and kicker for the semi-professional CT Crush tackle football team. Huber is still active in the sports community as a professional broadcaster and general manager of the CFC Arena in Hamden, Conn. During the summer she runs Joe Machnik’s No. 1 Soccer Camps around the country. Huber earned her Bachelor’s degree in management of sports industries from UNH in 2000 and holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
