Former University of Tennessee Lady Vol and WNBA player Kamiko Williams enters her second year as an assistant coach for the New Haven women’s basketball team.
Most recently, Williams was an assistant coach for the Virginia Sting AAU team where she helped in the development of the team’s offensive and defensive strategies and coordinated study hall during travel. Prior to that, she was an assistant coach at Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, Va. There, she helped guide the Panthers to a berth in the conference semifinals and the Virginia 5A Regional Tournament.
As a player, Williams competed at the University of Tennessee under legendary coach Pat Summit. She appeared in the NCAA Tournament all four of her years at UT and made three trips to the Elite Eight. During her time with the Lady Vols, the team went 120-23. Williams played in 128 games, averaging 4.5 points per game including a career best 7.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as a senior while finishing her BA in Sociology in just three years.
She was the second round selection of the New York Liberty in the 2013 WNBA draft. In one season with NY she averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
