Heather McClelland

Heather McClellend was the third head coach in women's lacrosse program history, leading the Chargers during the 2005 season. Heather came to New Haven from Wesleyan University where she served as a women's lacrosse intern under head coach Holly Wheeler since 2002. At Wesleyan, she also served as the Assistant Director of Intramurals and was an assistant women's ice hockey coach during the 2002-03 season.

A 2002 graduate of Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in anthropology and sociology, McClelland was a four-year standout on the lacrosse team, earning four letters and serving as Lafayette's team captain her senior year. She was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 1999 and the league's Offensive Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, Heather was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP, as she helped Lafayette to its first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. She also earned Regional All-American honors for three straight seasons from 2000-2002 and played in the Division I Senior All-Star Game in 2002.
