Emily Record

Named the first head coach in program history in May 2021, Emily Record comes to New Haven with a wealth of experience, including serving as a performance analyst for the USA Women’s Rugby Sevens program as they prepare for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Record has been involved with USA Rugby since 2018 when she started as an assistant coach with the USA U-20 women’s team. In addition to her current involvement with USA Rugby, Record comes to New Haven from a similar position at the United States Air Force.

A graduate of Drexel University (’04) where she began playing Rugby as a sophomore, Record is very familiar with a college campus, having served in some capacity at five different colleges since she started on her journey at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010.

After a five-year stint as a Quaker, including serving as head coach from January 2012 through September 2015, Record moved on to West Virginia where she was both the women’s assistant coach and men’s skills coach. She then spent 2016-2018 as the head coach at Endicott College (Mass.) before moving on to one-year stints at Queens College (N.Y.) and Guilford College (N.C.).

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Record has also served as an assistant coach for a number of All-Star programs including the High School All-American Sevens (July 2018 & December 2018), the Collegiate All-American Sevens (June 2018), the NSCRO All-Stars (June 2018) and the NERFU All-Stars (December 2017 – January 2018).
